Donahue, John, P., Jr., 88, of Oak Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on Saturday June 6, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Delores A. (DeLucca) Donahue and the late Catherine M. (Carroll) Donahue.
Born in Providence, a son of the late John P. Donahue Sr. and Rose (Duffney) Donahue, he lived in Riverside for 61 years.
Mr. Donahue was a First Class Crew Chief-Lineman for the former Narragansett Electric Co. for 42 years before retiring in 1991.
John was a 61 year communicant of St. Brendan Church. He was past President, coach and charter member of the East Providence Youth Hockey Association and the Riverside Little League. He was an honorary graduate of LaSalle Academy. He was a member of the East Providence Knights of Columbus Council # 1528. A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed watching hockey and football and enjoyed traveling.
Mr. Donahue was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Anne C. Donahue of North Providence, Joan P. Medeiros and her husband Peter of Riverside, Christine Harvey of Riverside and Meredeth W. Souza and her husband Raymond of Riverside; two sons, David M. Donahue and his wife Carolyn of Rumford and Steven J. Donahue and his wife Connie of Riverside; two step-children, John W. Andre of South Carolina and Kevin T. Andre of Riverside; twelve grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and one great grandson. He was the father of the late John P. Donahue III and Kevin D. Donahue.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday June 9, 2015 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 9:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 11 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
