Joachim A. Weissfeld

Weissfeld, Joachim A., 94, of Tockwotton on the Waterfront, Waterfront Drive, East Providence, died peacefully on November 4, 2021. He was the husband of the late Mary M. (Morton) Weissfeld.
Born in Wuppertal, Germany, he was the son of the late Samuel and Emma (Erb) Weissfeld, he formerly lived on Clark Road, Barrington for 65 years.
Mr. Weissfeld was an attorney for Hinckley Allen & Snyder LLP, Providence for 20 years.
Joachim was a graduate of Brown University Class of 1950 and received his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School Class of 1953.
He was a member of the Barrington Congregational Church and the Providence Hope Club. He enjoyed gardening and reading.
Mr. Weissfeld was a United States Navy Veteran during World War II.
He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth W. Hopper of Dorset, VT and Katherine W. McGrady of McLean, VA and three grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Spring or Summer of 2022. Contributions in Mr. Weissfeld’s memory to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, 12 Saunderson Road, Smithfield, RI 02917 would be deeply appreciated.
I too had the great privilege to work as a young lawyer with Joe at Hinckley Allen. He was an excellent lawyer, a wonderful mentor and a delightful person. You have my sincerest condolences and best wishes.

Joe will forever hold a dear place in my heart and mind. A brilliant attorney, deep thinker, extraordinary teacher, mentor and friend. I will miss his smile and his wonderfully subtle sense of humor…but it makes me glad to think of him reunited with Mary, and I feel a deep sense of gratitude that we had the opportunity to share a few steps of the journey. Rest in peace, sir–and my heartfelt condolences to the Weissfeld family.
Jo graduated from Brown with my mother and was a lifelong friend. He was always there for my parents. A wonderful patient gentleman. He was intelligent and positive and had a sparkle in his eye. I am very sad to hear he has died. He was a quiet presence in my early life. The world has lost a good man.
Joe truly was “a prince of a man.” He epitomized
the term “lawyer and advisor.” He meant so much to
so many-to me Joe was a colleague and a friend
So sorry to read of Joe’s passing. He was a valued friend and colleague who always had a great story and word of encouragement. The world was a better place because of him and he will be greatly missed. A great lawyer and friend.

Joe was a prince of a man, one of everyone’s favorites at the law firm. My condolences to his daughters, who he mentioned often with pride and affection. I am only glad that I was able to be a friend during the years we were colleagues.
My condolences to the Weissfeld family. I had the privilege and good fortune of working with Joe at Hinckley Allen for many years. He was one of my mentors. He was an outstanding lawyer but even more importantly he was a great person. A class act both professionally and personally.
