  1. Unfortunately my condolences came late, his death took me by surprise.I was his patient for several years and I can say that he was a great human being and a doctor who was always noble and sometimes funny. He helped me improve my health a lot and thanks to him I can enjoy many things. My sincere condolences for your loss. You will always be remembered with all the love in the world.

  2. I am so sorry for your loss. I am delayed on sending my condolences as I just found out and I am deeply heartbroken. Dr Armenio saved my life. I was his patient back in 1994 when I relapsed. He helped me fight off cancer the second time and became a friend and my PCP afterwards. We used to chat about the Mets often and he would always ask me how my family was doing. He will always be in my heart and never forgotten.

  3. Dr. Armenio was, without hyperbole, a remarkable human being. I was devastated to learn of his passing from a my husband’s patient. He took great care of my mom (recently deceased) when she was his patient until 2020. I’d like to think that they are both sharing a joke and a hearty laugh together. His kindness, humor, and care made a very hard journey feel just a bit lighter. He did that for all his patients, but he always made my mom feel like she was his only patient. I will never forget him.

  4. Great guy, extraordinarily helpful durijg my peds residency at Brown 91-94

  5. Dear Armenio family,

I just found out that Dr. Armenio is no longer with us. This is such a loss to the medical profession. His love of everyone was part of my motivation for becoming a nurse. He was my doc when I was 14 and needed a pediatric oncologist. I am now 43 and I always made yearly appointments just to catch up with him. When my parents moved away and I couldn’t afford healthcare, he paid my office bills so I could continue to get the care I needed. He was an amazing man and someone that has shaped my career and who I am today. He took care of my parents as well as my ex-husband and always took the best care of everyone.

    My sincerest condolences.

  6. While reading the obituary for Vince’s mother today in the Bergen Record , I was saddened to hear this news about him.
Vince was my student in St Josephs School in the 1970’s. After 40 years of teaching, I can still say that he was my favorite student of all time. To this day, I tell my current students the stories of Vince Aremino:

The Halloween he went home for lunch and came back with a huge bag of candy, and told me he got it trick or treating. I said, “But Vince, why did everyone give you candy you are not dressed in costume?” his reply was “I told them I was pretending to be a student!”

When as a alter boy in my wedding he stepped on my vail and burst out laughing

The last day of 8th grade when he chased the principal, Sr. Jean down the street with a live chicken he brought to school in a paper bag (she did not like birds)

Vince was so very special, my heart breaks for all that knew and loved him. Sincere condolences

  7. To Dr Armenio’s family, you have my condolences. He was a great man & a great Dr.

  8. So very sorry to hear of his passing. Dr. Armenio was a wonderful doctor. Almost 30 years ago he was my daughters oncologist at RIH where he worked with pediatrics, a few years before Hasbro was built. He was so caring, you could see how desperately he wanted to save our children. The medical community has lost a great teacher.

  9. My deepest condolences to the family. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing. I still remember first meeting him from “tumor boards” in the Oncology department at R.I. Hospital. He later became my Physician for years until I relocated to another state. There are not enough words to express how highly I thought of him and how he helped me. I am so grateful to God and privileged to have known him as my Physician. In my opinion, he was the best Physician I have ever encountered. What a legacy this man has left…my prayers are with all grieving at this time. May the perpetual light of Jesus Christ shine on him eternally.

  10. To the Armenio family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Dr. Armenio was my doctor for years, I met him early in his career. The compassion and kindness he showed me will never be forgotten. He made you feel like you were his only patient. His passing is such a great loss for the medical community. He always asked about my children as they were growing up and when he spoke about his children his eyes would light up. He would tell me how lucky he was. He touched many lives and will never be forgotten. May he Rest In Peace

  11. To Dr. Armenio wife and children.
I just got a call about his passing. My thoughts and Prayers are With You And Your Family. I because a patient of his through my Sister Jacqueline A. Lopez. She and My Sister Isabelle M.M. Lopez were the first know cases of this disease in the City of Providence. Unfortunately Isabelle succumb to the disease before Jacqueline. Dr Armenio would hold a Birthday ?? party at his office on Taunton Avenue for Jackie every year before she succumb to the disease. I always said he was The Angel my mother sent from Heaven to watch over her daughters. When I was ever admitted into the Roger Williams Hospital, he always ensured I had the best room within the hospital. HE will truly be missed.
However, comforting this may be, YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN WERE HIS ROCK.
GOD BLESS THE 3 OF YOU.
    LOVE,
    DENISE E. LOPEZ

My dads gave him seeds that were given to him by my aunt from Philly who had taken them here from Italy. My dad’s therapy was 8 to 10 hours around his plants and his garden. he would plant at least 200 plants. Every time he had his treatments a bag of tomatoes and other vegetables were given to the DR. This special Doctor said he would make it happen so he could see his granddaughter. He had a ultra sound machine come to his room and had his daughter in law sit for the ultra sound while my brother could see his granddaughter. 35. To the Armenio Family – Dr. Jeremiah, Vincent & Penny —

Dr. Armenio was such a wonderful man, physician, teacher, boss and leader – his kindness, generosity, compassion and just plain goodness — profoundly influenced and guided all those who knew and worked with him. He just made it all seem so easy – for him there was always time – for another meeting, appointment, chat, phone call or joke. I don’t think he ever appreciated or understood the deep and profound effect he had on all of us who were lucky enough to have known him.

I’ll miss him every day but know that he has found the rest and peace he so richly deserves.

  51. Jen, Penny and Vincent,

I have had the pleasure and the privilege to have worked with Dr. Armenio for the past 10 years, at the Cancer Center. He has been a mentor, a friend and a confidante during that time. He always greeted everyone with a smile and always asked how they were doing. He was genuinely interested in how we all were feeling, no matter how many patients he had scheduled to see. He gave his all to his patients, and made the Cancer Center a positive place to work. He was a member of our Cancer Center family and will always be in out hearts. I will miss his “Bad Dad Jokes”, which he shared everyday that he was here, along with his favorite saying “Is that bad”.

He is one of a kind and he will be missed more than I am able to express in words. He is not just a doctor here, and I considered him to be a good friend and someone I could talk with about anything. He was truly our TOP DOC.

For many of us, as former heme/onc fellows, Dr. Armenio was more than just a mentor or a teacher. He was a friend. He was a very giving person. He gave his time to us. Always stopped and said hi, took his time to talk to the patients, his residents, his fellows, staffs around the hospital. Never seemed rush although he was a very busy man. To me that was his greatest attribute.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May he rest in peace. Amen!

    Requiescat in Pace.

  54. Very sorry for your loss. Vincent was my doctor and became a friend throughout my health issues. Our discussions of family and the joys of fatherhood are memorable. Vincent saved my life and he will always be alive in my thoughts. Rest in peace Doctor. Thank you.

  55. I attended St. Joseph’s School in Oradell, NJ with Vincent from first through eighth grade. He was a kind boy who always had a smile on his face. I extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to the Armenio family. I am so very sorry for your loss.

  56. I was a patient of Dr. Armenio. He went out of his way ( and may have incurred the wrath of the lab folks ) by analyzing a piece of my rib instead of a very painful needle stick in my back. My urologist was going to remove a little bit of my rib anyway, and Vinnie spared me from a second, painful procedure.
I remember his telling me he had come across some veterinary software that could be tweaked to use for human patients. Vinnie said if I came to his lab on a Saturday morning, I might be seated next to a pony.
When Vincent and Penny were little, Vinnie told me he wanted them to spend more time outdoors, than inside, playing video games. What a gift he gave them. I am sorry he is gone, and will remember how lucky I am our paths crossed.

  57. My sincere condolences to Dr.Armenio’s family.

  77. Dear Jennifer, Vincent, Penny,

Carla and I are so sorry for your loss. Indeed it is a great loss to all of us who had the good fortune to know Vince as friends and colleagues, trainees and patients. He touched so many lives and left an indelible imprint in all our hearts. He was such a gentle soul, so kind and generous, so calm and assuring, so bright and yet so humble. We will never forget the summer we spent living in the apartment above the barn on your farm – temporarily homeless when Jen and Vince took us in. Animals, birds, friends, people sick or in need – he took care of all selflessly, with love and compassion. The Christmas parties (with what my kids were sure had to be the real Satna Claus) and his amazing decorations were legendary and defined the spirit of Christmas for my family. He was truly a wonderful man and an inspiration to all of us as a doctor and a person. May you find comfort in all the happy memories of him.

  78. My deepest sympathy to the Armenio family. My husband, John Lawson, Jr., was a patient of Dr. Armenio’s since 1999 with CLL. He also delivered and sold farm supplies and often came to your “farm” to see if there was anything you needed. We were thankful to have Dr. Armenio not only as an oncologist and a customer, but also as a friend. My husband did pass away three months ago but it was not from the leukemia because Dr. Armenio had that under control!! May God bless you with his strength, peace and comfort during this time. Mrs. Shirley Lawson

  79. So sad to hear of Dr Armenio’s passing. He was such a credit to his profession and had the best bedside manner, caring & kind. My condolences to his family. He was quite a special person. Godspeed Dr Armenio.

  80. Dear Dr. Jeremiah, Vincent and Penny
I’m deeply sorry for your loss…
    God’s speed Dr. Armenio…

  81. Dear Family,

My deepest condolences for your lost. I just heard, so I am gathering my thoughts. My last visit was right before he took leave and we spoke about this time. I told him, what my mom uses to say to her ten children even as adults on the phone and at the end of a visit. “Pray for me was I will for thee, that we may merrily meet one day in Heaven.” He look seriously at me and said, “I don’t think I am going to Heaven”. I said, listen Our Lady promise who ever you bind in your Rosary will see Heaven”. I bound him and his family…I am sure he is home with the Saint he loved.
He truly was a hero to my parents, my sister, and so many countless others.

God hold you close and pray for us the work of a good soul will live through your example.

    Esther (Doreen)

  82. Sincere condolences and prayers to the Armenio family on the loss of a compassionate and very capable doctor. Dr. Armenio was my Dad’s oncologist eight years ago. We trusted and had the utmost respect for him as a doctor and a human being. He gave us hope and peace throughout the medical journey of cancer. I’m sure that he has arrived at his Heavenly reward!

  83. Dear Dr. Jennifer an children, I prayed so hard for a miracle for him as he gave so many to others but alas God must have needed him. He was a man of wonderful spirit and conviction. I credit him with saving my moms life , extending it for many years. She passed at 95 he promised 100 but close enough. Dr. Jennifer I also had the honor of my Agency caring for your dad . Dr. Armenio asked me personally to make sure he was well taken care of. I hope we lived up to your expectations and I remember how difficult a time it was for all of you. I feel honored to have known him in his role as my moms doctor and also as a man trying to take care of his family. I wish you and your children love and the ability to find some peace in his passing. May God Bless you , Cynthia Quattrucci

  84. Condolences to the family of Dr. Vincent A. Armenio. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. Very sad to hear Dr. Armenio passed away. My brother, Howard Jackson, Jr was a patient of Dr Armenio also my mom, Armentine Jackson. I would take my mom to her office visits with Dr. Armenio. My mom adored Dr. Armenio. He showed so much compassion and patience with her. Unfortunately she passed away some years ago of multiple myeloma.
    May he Rest In Peace.

  85. I am profoundly saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Vincent Armenio and extend my sincere condolences to his family.

As a pathologist at RWMC, my interactions over the years with Dr. Armenio the oncologist were always cordial and, I would like to believe, mutually gratifying professionally. It wasn’t until our roles changed somewhat during the last several years – his as Chair of the Department of Medicine and Director of the Medical Residency Program, and mine as Designated Institutional Official and Chair of the Graduate Medical Education Committee – that I got to know Vince better as a person of admirable ideals, strong spirit, determination and resourcefulness. I feel privileged to have worked with him closely to enrich, as well as salvage, some of our key residency programs. Although our combined efforts in this arena, often against great odds, were not always as successful as we hoped, this was no fault of his. Vince had a unique vision and ability to connect with our residents and address their individual and collective problems and to overcome competitiveness and resistance by reaching out to those who might otherwise be our adversaries to establish pathways of cooperation and mutual benefit. Positive changes that he brought to the GME programs, including the Residents’ Research Day and a lecture series for residents’ professional development, I hope are perpetuated in his name.

Tragically, Vince has left us far too soon, but our memory of him and, hopefully, his influence on us will long endure.

  86. Dear Dr. Jeremiah, Vincent and Penny,

My deepest and sincerest condolences. I first met Dr. Armenio during my Roger Williams residency interview a couple of years ago and even virtually his passion for connecting with future as well as current residents was evident and he had a way of making everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. Once I started my residency, he went out of his way to guide us in morning report to be empathic as well as knowledgeable physicians. I felt especially privileged to have had the honor of attending the resident retreat at his beautiful home in Rehoboth last year. His love was so encompassing and included his dear animals. It was truly an exceptional experience.

I miss Dr. Armenio dearly, as we all do at the Rog and the greater community, and am keeping all of you in my prayers.

  87. Dear Dr. Jeremiah and Family,

Both Ephraim and I send our deepest condolences to you and the Armenio family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. May God rest his soul and keep you in his loving care.

I thank God for Dr. Armenio every day as I believe his knowledge and the treatment he chose for my father is what kept him alive all those years. 110. Dear Dr.Jennifer, Vincent and Penny. I do not have words to express the sorrow I feel, nor can I express the depth of my gratitude to your late husband. and father, for everything he did for me, as well as my late sister, Sheri Persico. The one thing I will miss the most was his gentle nature and his laughter as we would remember the many mischievous antics of Sheri. It was because of him that my sister, who was given 4-6 weeks to live in July of 1997 by another doctor, lived until December of 2002. I was fortunate to have him treat me for ITP from 2003 until this past year.
