Belmira Rainey (Madeira), 94, of Walsh Avenue, Barrington, died peacefully on November 2, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Captain Patrick J. Rainey, Pawtucket Police Department.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Joseph and Sophia (Pacheco) Madeira, she lived in Barrington for 30 years.
Mrs. Rainey was a waitress for various restaurants for 50 years before retiring in 1993.
Belmira was a member of the Pawtucket Elks Club and the Pawtucket Police Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles and was a devoted New England Patriots fan.
She is survived by a daughter, Christine A. Kee and her husband Norman of Barrington; two sons, James F. Rainey and his wife Maryann of Smithfield and Patrick J. Rainey Jr. and his wife Lynn of Barrington; a sister, Dolores Gomes of New Smyrna Beach, FL; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Elizabeth Loparto and great-grandmother of the late Camron O’Connor. She was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 8, 2022 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Calling hours are Tuesday morning 10 a.m. – 12 noon. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Mrs. Rainey’s memory to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 would be deeply appreciated.
My deepest sympathy to you Chris & Norman for taking care of her for all those years. She was always so sweet & chatty every time I saw her. She is now with our so missed handsome Camron!! Like I told Becky, she passed on my deceased Mom’s 94th birthday. There’s now one more Ángel up in Heaven😇❤️🙏🏻
