Mauro, Michael G., 73, of Riverside, died peacefully on December 30, 2023 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Ellen F. (Buckley) Mauro.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Geary) Mauro.

Mr. Mauro was a retired University of Rhode Island Police Officer. He received a Paralegal Studies Certificate from Boston University and an Associate of Science Criminal Justice degree from Roger Williams University. He enjoyed playing guitar and cooking.

He is survived by his daughter, Meghan Mauro of Bristol; a step-daughter, Jessica DeMarco and her husband Ken of Barrington and a daughter-in-law, Denise Flores of Rehoboth, MA. He also was the proud grandfather of Henry Czerwinski, Danielle Flores and Jake and Alexis DeMarco. He was a brother to Patricia Marino, Joseph Mauro, Mary “Betsy” Reilly and the late William Mauro. He was the father of the late Benjamin Mauro and step-father of the late Matthew Flores.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday evening January 4, 2024 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 7 p.m. Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. A private burial will be held on Friday January 5, 2024 in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

  5. Mike was a great guy who was quick with a good laugh or an interesting story that he carried in his pocket. He loved his family and his lovely wife. He was a respected police officer and member of the Fraternal Order of Police Little Rhody Lodge 15 and the Rhode Island Police Officers Emerald Society. Rest in Peace my Brother.

  7. The Mauro’s introduced Karen and I 54 years ago and Mike is my son’s Godfather. They were a second family to me since college. I have known Mike most of my life. A great guy!! Rest in peace Brother.

  8. I am so deeply sorry to learn of Mike’s passing. He was my cousin from RI and although we didn’t see each other very often, we kept in touch through the years. He was bigger than life, funny and deeply devoted to his family. I will always remember his sense of humor and the irreverent jokes he told. My sincere condolences to the entire family. Take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his lovely Ellen. I will keep him in my heart always.💔
