Virginia M. Finneran “Ginny”, 93, of Warwick
Ginny, affectionately known as “Auntie” to family and friends, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 9, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Finneran and Madelyn (Creamer) Finneran, and sister of the late Joyce C. Dube. Ginny graduated from St. Patrick’s high school and dedicated her career to the State of Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation where she worked for 45 tireless years, when she retired as Chief Business Management Officer in 1991. After she retired, she continued to enjoy her many hobbies, including movies, lunch, and dinner with friends, staying very apprised of current events, and most importantly to her, spending time with her family. She was also a member of the choir at St. Timothy’s Church, where she was able to utilize her perfect pitch, and a member of the Pilgrim Senior Center where she enjoyed socializing and playing cards.
Ginny is survived by her loving nephew, Gregory Carrara, his wife, Kelly (McGowan) Carrara of Barrington, Rhode Island, and was a devoted and loving aunt to her three loving nieces, Emily, Kate and Molly Carrara, her loving nephew Zachary Carrara, several cousins, as well as the family dogs with whom she loved spending time, Ziggy and Mitzy.
Her Funeral will be held on Saturday January 13, 2024 from the
W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:15 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
Calling Hours are Friday 4-7 p.m.
Dear Family- I was saddened when my Mom, Mitzi Gould, told me of Ginny’s passing. Mom will truly miss her- Newport Creamery will not be the same. Sincerely, Diane Thompson
Dear Greg and family, My sinc ere sympathy in the loss of your beloved auntie Ginnie. You were such a great nephew to her all these years. She adored uou and your family and spoke of you all often. I will remember her fondly and all the good times beginning with Business Regulation and the church choir, card games at the senior center,lunches..dinners, shows, etc.and most of all the trips to the casino, which she loved.
