Marie Lucille Preston, 85, of Primrose Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on July 11, 2024 at the Sunny View Nursing Home, Warwick, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Dennis S. Preston and the late Thomas J. Monaghan.
Born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Joseph Eugene Savage and Blanche (Claing) Savage, she lived in Riverside for 55 years.
Mrs. Preston was an office manager for the former Trifari Mfg. Company for many years before retiring in 2005.
Marie enjoyed playing cards, gardening, dining out at Chili’s and Town Pizza, cruising and spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by her children, Terry A. Monaghan and her companion Jerry of Warwick, Donna M. Zelano and her husband Thomas of Warwick, Gregory F. Monaghan and his wife Julia of Virginia and Patricia A. Staples and her husband Wayne of Warwick; nine grandchildren and a sister Marie Lorraine Saltonstall of Florida. She was the mother of the late Denise M. Crumm and Diane M. Monaghan and sister of the late Annette Blanche and Ronald Savage.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday July 14, 2024 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 3 p.m. Calling hours are Sunday afternoon 1-3 p.m. Burial will held in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Prospect Street, Pawtucket.
Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Marie’s memory to Hope Health Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 would be deeply appreciated.
I worked with Marie for Many years at Trifari. Always a smile on her face, such a pleasure to have known her. Gid speed Marie!
