Kenneth E. Towne, 68, affectionately known as Whoop, died peacefully on October 11, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Robert R. and R. Lenore Towne, he grew up on the Narragansett Terrace and lived in Riverside for over 60 years and North Kingstown for the past four years.
Mr. Towne was a truck driver for various concrete and propane companies, retiring in 2020.
Whoop was a graduate of East Providence High School class of 1975. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. A New England sports and drag racing fan, he enjoyed boating, fishing, motorcycle riding, a great meal and spending time with his family and many friends. He was a big guy with a captivating smile, an infectious laugh and a heart of gold.
He is survived by two brothers, Matthew A. Towne (Joan) of Wakefield, RI, and Stephen R. Towne (Lee-Ann) of Riverside, RI; two step-daughters, Kristyn Haviland (Michael) of Glen Mills, PA, and Amanda Rivelli (Anthony) of Johnston, RI, and three step-grandsons, Elliot, Wesley and Theodore. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews. He was the brother of the late Robin L. Towne and David S. Towne.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside, at 5 p.m. Calling hours are Saturday afternoon, 3-5 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted.

Spent many years back in the 1970’s hanging out with whoop and Robin those were great years they went on to be great folks

I met Kenny at Riverside Jr. High School. He was a big man with an even bigger heart who loved to have fun and laugh. That is how I will always my friend Whoop.
