Jon Terrence Moody, 70, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, at Nassau University Medical Center, East Meadow, New York.

Born November 2, 1954, in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late David and Martha (Gallagher) Moody and lived in East Providence for over 40 years.

Jon graduated from East Providence High School in 1972, earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Providence College in 1976 and his Master of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Rhode Island in 1993. He went on to have a successful career as a Demand Planner and Supply Chain Professional, advising large US-based organizations on inventory planning, optimization, and forecasting, including Pharmavite LLC, CVS Pharmacy and Honeywell (formerly Allied Signal, Inc.). Jon achieved his Six Sigma Green Belt certification while at Allied Signal and was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma international business honor society.

Jon, known as Terry to his friends and family, will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, quick wit, and passion for music, hockey, and baseball. Later in life, he was a dedicated runner, proudly serving as Secretary of the First Lap Running Club, and successfully completing several marathons, including New York and Boston.

Jon is survived by his daughter, Laura (Moody) Valentini, her husband David, and his beloved grandchildren, Jon and Leona of Williston Park, NY.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 9 AM to 11AM in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willet Avenue, Riverside. Committal service and burial will follow in Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Jon’s memory to Cancer Research Institute, 29 Broadway, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10006-3111 are deeply appreciated.

    Carolyn and I are so sad to hear of your Dad’s passing. Terry was a great friend and a great guy. His sense of humor and quick wit made him so fun to be around. He was a joy to work with and spend time socially. He will be missed by many.

  4. I met Terry at Aidan’s Pub in Bristol, RI in 1996 or so. We remained in touch through all the years and all his travels.
    The last time I saw him was when we met for lunch at Aidan’s when he had first returned from CA and was living on the Cape.
    The last time we spoke was on the telephone while he was living in Idaho.
    He was a good man and he will be greatly missed.

  6. I want to extend my sincere condolences to Jon’s family. Jon and I were in the 7th grade together, and we remained good friends throughout our lives. When we were young, we spent many a day together playing baseball, swimming in his pool, and listening to music. Rest in peace, Jon.

  16. I knew Terry since 7th grade and he only got better as a friend, student, father, and grandfather. As I was an English major, he taught me the meaning of words that were savory and discreet – I dare not mention them but do remember them on occasion. I laugh and am sad, but so very glad we met as friends and schoolmates.

  17. I’m surprised and saddened to hear about Terry’s passing. We worked at Pharmavite in Santa Clarita and Northridge, CA and attended the same church for a while. Always enjoyed his company. Condolences to his family.

  18. I went all through school with Jon and spent many enjoyable years by the pool with with him and his family. We often cruised to the Cape in our teen years of discovery. His passing is a loss to all who lo ed him.

  21. Laura and family – I’m so sad to read this news. I had the good fortune of first meeting Terry at AlliedSignal. He was smart, kind and funny. Coincidentally Terry also worked with my father at Swank, and my dad always remembered Terry very fondly. I took up running about the same time Terry did, and we ran many road races together! Those were great days! The Rhode Island running community was something special, and Terry was a big part of it at the time. Many years later Terry and I worked together again at PartyLite candles.We chatted almost every day, and it was easy to see that you and your beautiful family were his pride and joy. I’m so happy my path crossed with Terry’s, and his friendship will always be a blessing for me. Be well. Xo
