David A. Long, 90, of Houghton Street, Barrington, died peacefully on January 5, 2025 at Hope Health & Palliative Care Center, Providence surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Jane E. (Thompson) Long.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Gerald and Edna (Pratt) Long, he lived in Barrington since 1962. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Suffolk University and a Master’s degree from the University of Rhode Island.

Mr. Long was an Area Director for the Massachusetts Vocational Rehabilitation for 38 years before retiring in 2000.

David enjoyed boating, walking on the beach, handyman projects, watching the news and spending time in East Blue Hill, Maine with his loving family and friends.

He is survived by three children, Gary W. Long and his wife Susan of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Jennifer G. Lavallee and her husband Charles of Warwick and Stephen G. Long of Barrington and four grandchildren, Evan, Kate, Sarah and Kyle. He was the brother of the late Lawrence Long.

His Funeral will be private. Burial will be held in Blue Hill Cemetery, Blue Hill, Maine. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in David’s memory to the East Blue Hill Village Improvement Association, 15 Curtis Cove Road, Blue Hill, ME, 04614 would be deeply appreciated.
