Noreen M. (Hegarty) Oakes, 90, of Knapton Street, Barrington, died peacefully on January 9, 2025 at the Steere House, Providence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Frederick R. Oakes.
Born in Dorchester, MA, a daughter of the late William and Nora (O’Mahoney) Hegarty, she lived in Barrington for 50 years.
Mrs. Oakes was an Account Manager in the banking industry in Boston from 1954-1960. She also was a homemaker and a childcare provider for many families.
Noreen was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Seekonk, MA and enjoyed Tuesday meetings with friends for Christian Fellowship. She also enjoyed Irish music, Irish dancing, animals and going to performing art theatres to attend live performances.
She is survived by three sons, F. William Oakes and his partner Michele Eaton of Warren, Kevin M. Oakes and his partner Anne Brady of Binghamton, NY and James J. Oakes and his wife Yukiko of Astoria Queens, NY and one grandson, Conor K. Oakes of Astoria Queens, NY. She was the sister of the late Margaret Curley.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday January 14, 2025 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Coyle Drive, Seekonk, MA at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 4-6 p.m.
