Wayne Stone

Date of Passing:
Wayne Stone, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 15th at his home in Rehoboth, MA. Born in Southington, CT, to the late Evelyn and William Stone, Wayne was the eldest of five siblings: Michael of Hinsdale, NH; Patricia Stone Caron of Hartsdale, NY; James of Rutland, VT; and Leann Stone Krenicki of Harwinton, CT.
Wayne dedicated his life to helping others as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and Registered Nurse. He was a proud graduate of Quinnipiac College and later earned his Master’s degree from Rhode Island College. His passion for healthcare was matched only by his love for adventure and the sea.
An avid sailor, Wayne found joy and freedom navigating the waters of the East Coast aboard his catamaran. His most remarkable journey took him across the Atlantic, sailing from Cape Town, South Africa, to Rhode Island—an adventure that spoke to his fearless spirit and love for exploration. He was a longtime member of the East Greenwich Yacht Club, where he formed many lasting friendships.
Wayne’s legacy of kindness, curiosity, and resilience lives on in those he leaves behind: his devoted wife, Donna Mayer Stone; his daughter, Andrea Depatie of Portsmouth, RI, and Phoenix, AZ; his son, Gregory Depatie, and his wife, Melanie, of Paradise Valley, AZ; and his two adored granddaughters, Leighton and Mara Depatie. He is also survived by his nieces, Sarah Krenicki Forest of Old Chatham, NY; Angela Caron Arias of Hartsdale, NY; Rebecca Caron of Baltimore, MD; Jennifer Stone Jones of Tampa, FL; and his nephew, Jeremy Stone of Rutland, VT.
Wayne will be remembered for his adventurous heart, his dedication to healing others, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to sail on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Fair winds and following seas, Wayne.

I will miss him as a neighbor and friend, will forever remember our dance😢💜
I am reminded of 3 sailing charters that we had the privilege to share with Wayne and Donna. As we pulled into the harbor we silently listened to Jimmy Buffet singing “It’s been a lovely cruise”. So it has Captain Wayne.
While we didn’t know Wayne very long as the newer neighbors on the block, he still made an impression. He had a great sense of humor & was a kind soul. This is sad news to read and our condolences are sent to Donna and their family 💙
