  24. I was deeply saddened for the entire Hall family, when I learned of Charlie’s passing. We were partners in the EPPD Vice Squad for about eight years. During those years, I learned a lot from
    Charlie.

While performing our duties, I found him to be very knowledgeable, brave, courageous, and very
Street smart. He was always concerned for my welfare. I will truly miss him and his ability to problem solve.

  25. So sorry for your loss. Rollie and Charlie were good friends..
    Love Mrs. Rollie.

  26. Like many of my brother police officers I worked with Charlie for many years. Twenty-three in my case. From my first day on the job he always treated me with respect and was more than happy to teach me anything about the job. I have so many great memories of him. My favorite times was working with him when we were both day sergeants. We shared a lot good and bad calls together. But always stuck together like brothers on so many calls and always respected each others decisions. We definitely shared some special memories. In all the years I knew him I never saw him get mad. He always had that smile and just happy to be doing police work. My sincere condolences go to Charlies, David Jr., Stephen and their families. May you rest in peace brother.

  28. My deepest condolences to the Hall family. I worked for Charlie as he was one of my sergeants when I first entered the police department and then later under his command when he became a lieutenant. He always took the time to pass on his knowledge to those who worked with him. I’ll always remember some of the calls for service we went on. You could confidently go through any door with him. He’d even go first. He was quite a guy and a great cop. Good man, right there. It was an honor to serve with him. May he Rest In Peace. 🙏❤️🙏

  29. Charlie, David and Stephen,
Aunt Nat and I are so very sorry for the loss of your dad. He was very much a father figure for us and a loving brother to Aunt Nat our mother. The memories are numerous and forever cherished. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Much love and sympathy! Teri and Aunt Nat

  30. I also met Charlie at the Norm Foster hockey league in Ellenton & Charlie was my friend & we always kept in touch after he quit playing hockey & went back to RI so all I can do is offering my condolences to the family & a lost of another good American friend.RIP Charlie.

  31. I met Charlie in 2006 in Sebring, Florida and discovered we shared a passion for hockey. For the next 10 years we made the 75 mile trip to Ellenton for a 90 minute skate followed by great comraderie at a local diner with some great like minded friends. On those drives I heard a lot about Charlie’s sons, grandchildren, his loving wife Dawn who he dearly missed, his career in law enforcement, and his trips to Ireland. It really was time well spent and I enjoyed every minute. Thanks for all the good times Charlie ! Rest in peace, it’s well deserved.

  32. I first met Charlie playing hockey with and against him in Florida (Foster Hockey – Ellenton). Banter in the locker room was one of his fortes and in conversations there and later at a breakfast place revealed a prior meeting between us. We discussed where we lived, work we did, etc. and it turned out we both had worked as police officers. I mentioned that the one ticket I had ever gotten was while visiting my folks in Providence, during September, 1969. It was a speeding ticket on I-195 in East Providence. He said he was working that area then, and later after checking his ‘day book’ for that time frame, was pretty sure HE was the officer who gave me that ticket! He also told me of his great friend, Joe Howley (a Mass State Trooper), who had been with him on a number of his trips to Ireland. Joe was my best friend in high school!! Amazing! But that was Charlie – he was the person who you loved to be with, reveled his friendship, and will be missed! RIP, Lt!

  33. My cousin Charlie and Dawn took me to Ireland, he would call us the Riverside Beauties, we had such fun and his quick wit kept us laughing. I will miss him, he was like a big brother. I am praying for you and your family,. I can ‘t come ,,,, I just got out of the hospital but I will be there in spirit. God bless all.

  34. I have known Charlie for what seems like a forever. He was an inspiration to me while we served together with the EPPD. I also watched his boys as they grew into men and I know he was very proud of them. My deepest condolences to his family. He was a legend and will be missed.

  35. I met Charlie while playing pick-up hockey in Florida. I didn’t know him as well as others but always considered him a friend and a good man. He will be missed; my condolences to the family.

  36. To the Hall Family, I am so sorry for your loss.May He Rest in Peace and God Bless Him.

  37. The world has lost a good and honorable man ! I’m so sorry for your loss !

  38. Death is nothing at all.
    It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
    Nothing has happened.
Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner.
    All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

Charlie was always an optimist. He saw the joy in everyone. Slante

  39. Many happy memories of our family get together through the years.

Charlie, David, and Stephen and your families
You will always remember your Dad.
All the times you went camping….good times together….great memories

    Love you all
    Aunt Diane and Uncle Joe
    Lynn and Kristen

  40. Charlie was my defence partner in FosterFloridaHockey @ Ellenton for three years, and I couldn’t wait to see him each year and renew our friendship on and off the ice. He was a locker room magnet — everyone wanted to dress for our games in Charlie’s room … his lovely spirit was contagious, and all the boys couldn’t get enough of his quick wit and humour. As you may know, he was a very good player, and I often thought he would have been a handful to play against when he was younger.

After hockey each week, we would retire to the local beanery for brunch and listen to each other about how great we used to be. Charlie talked about hockey and Ireland, but those topics were always second to his talk about family and his enormous pride for everyone in the Hall clan.

Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day,
    Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still Loved, still missed and very dear.

Michael (Charlie called me by my Gaelic name, Mhicheail) Travers
