Swenson, Charles, E., ‘Chick’, 88, of Sandra Court, Riverside, died peacefully on Wednesday May 5, 2010 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the loving husband of Katie E. (Hatch) Swenson.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Samuel O. and Sarah E. (Jerauld) Swenson, he lived in Riverside for 55 years.

Mr. Swenson was a stock clerk for the Okonite Co., Rumford for 35 years before retiring in 1985.

Charles was an usher at the Riverside Covenant Church for 25 years. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II.

Besides his wife of 56 years, he is survived by two sons; Captain Charles E. Swenson Jr. (E.P.P.D.) of Rehoboth, MA and Robert S. Swenson of Riverside, two daughters; Karen L. Dick of Rehoboth, MA and Sharon L. Swenson of Riverside, a sister; Eleanor Oakland of East Providence and six grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Hazel Mitchell, Albert, Raymond and Harriet Swenson.

His funeral will be held on Saturday May 8, 2010 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Funeral Service in the Barrington Baptist Church, 25 Old County Road, Barrington at 10 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Rumford Cemetery, Rumford.
