Burns, Dorothea, A., 100, of Wampanoag Trail, died peacefully on September 10, 2011. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Burns Sr.

A lifelong resident of East Providence, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Matilda (Brennan) Newman.

Mrs. Burns enjoyed reading and spending time at the beach especially at Bonnet Shores.

She is survived by a son; Richard J. Burns Jr. and his wife Barbara of Barrington, a daughter; Deborah Vanotti of San Francisco, CA, three grandchildren and one great grandson. She was the sister of the late Mary E. Hart, Jack and Bernard Newman.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday September 13, 2011 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 am. Burial will follow in Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
