Date of Passing:
Miech, Elizabeth (Kornely), 89, formerly of Woodcrest Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on January 18, 2024 at Saint Elizabeth Home, East Greenwich surrounded by members of her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Ralph P. Miech. They were married for 63 years.
Born in Milwaukee, WI, a daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Holsen) Kornely, she lived in Riverside since 1963.
Mrs. Miech was a graduate of Marquette University Class of 1956, and was a Teacher at Cass Street School, Milwaukee WI.
She was a communicant of St. Brendan Church and was a former member of the Women’s Rosary & Altar Society. Liz loved keeping up with her children, grandchildren and great granddaughters’ lives. She enjoyed her yearly winter vacations in Vermont and spending time with her family by a roaring fire and playing countless games of Tiles. She was an avid Boston Celtics fan, who watched every game. Her children fondly remember her listening ear, and daily love and care. Liz was known for her love of chocolate and a cupboard full of candy for her grandchildren. She loved her nieces and nephews like her own.
She is survived by her loving children, Susan C. Sweeney and her husband Bob of Seekonk, MA, Joseph R. Miech and his Fiance Michelle Giovino of South Kingston, John R. Miech and his wife Lori of Warwick, Thomas J. Miech and his wife Pam of Coventry and Karen M. Stoneman and her husband Chris of Jericho, VT; twelve grandchildren and five great granddaughters, with one more on the way. She was the sister of the late Sr. Mary SSSF, Lois Kreska, Rev. Dear family,
Your mom frequently attended the Communion Services I held at St. Elizabeth’s home and when she couldn’t I would bring her Holy Communion to her in her room. Two weeks ago I went to see her and she was sleeping in the chair. Today I learned of her passing.
Your mom is an amazing woman and she has amazing children and great grand children. You all brought great joy to her heart. I’m sorry for your loss and I pray for you at the time of your loss and for the gentle repose of her soul.
