DeAngelis, Irene V., 80, of Bay Spring Avenue, Barrington, died unexpectedly on July 22, 2022 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Sorzio V. and Helena (Andreozzi) DeAngelis, she lived in Barrington since 1948.

Irene was a Trust Officer in the Citizens Bank Trust Department for 20 years before retiring in 2002.

Irene was a communicant of Holy Angels Church where she was a member of the Women’s Guild and was also a 20 year member of the church choir. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, walking, attending concerts and spending time with her loving family and friends.

She is survived by three sisters, Josephine Dalessio of Barrington, Carol Plante of Barrington and Barbara Bunker of Riverside; a brother, Thomas DeAngelis of Worcester, MA; several nieces nephews; great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Paolella, Dorothy Mallozzi, Delfino and Sorzio DeAngelis Jr.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday July 28, 2022 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Calling hours are Thursday morning 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Irene’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 would be deeply appreciated.

  3. Irene was a wonderful, warm woman whose bright smile could light up any room. I got to know her through my affiliation with the Barrington Times, always spotting her helping out during the many Holy Angels Church fundraising events. I’m so happy I was able to interact with her while covering these events for the newspaper. She will be dearly missed. God rest her soul!
