James Emilio Raponi, 97, of Jesse Davis Lane, Barrington, died peacefully at home on December 22, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Ann M. (Oโ€™Neil) Raponi for 62 years.

Born in Barrington, a son of the late Emilio and Catherine (Pezzullo) Raponi, he was a lifelong resident of Barrington. James was a graduate of Boston University Class of 1950 and received a masterโ€™s degree from Rhode Island College in 1952.

Mr. Raponi was a school Principal for the Barrington School Department for many years before retiring in 1983. After retirement, he also was a Principal at several catholic schools.
James was a communicant of Holy Angels Church, Barrington. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Montaup Country Club, Portsmouth. He also enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod and dining out with his family.

Mr. Raponi was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II.

He is survived by a daughter, Julie A. Raponi of Barrington; two sons, Kevin N. Raponi of Barrington and John F. Raponi of Barrington. He was the brother of the late Anna Zeitler.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington on Friday December 27, 2024 at 10 a.m.

Burial with Military Honors will follow in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Upland Way, Barrington. Calling Hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.

  1. Mr. Raponi was a wonderful man. He cared for his wife for many years. I met him when I met Mr. Raponi when I worked at Citizens Bank in Barrington. It was always pleasure to help Mr. Raponi he was a kind and decent man
