Gomes, John J., 91, formerly of Roffee Street, died peacefully on June 20, 2017 at the Regency Park Nursing Home, Hazlet, NJ. He was the husband of the late Santa (Sorbello) Gomes.

Born in Warren, a son of the late Manuel and Louisa (Freites) Gomes, he lived in Barrington since 1950.

Mr. Gomes was a boat builder for Dyer Boats, Warren for 46 years before retiring in 1990.

John was a communicant of Holy Angels Church.

Mr. Gomes was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II.

He is survived by two daughters, Joyce A. Thompson and her husband Gary of Hazlet, NJ and Beverly Gomes and her husband Lee Barton of Lexington, MA; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Joseph Gomes.

His funeral will be held on Monday June 26, 2017 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Barrington. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
