J.Joseph Frederick, 88, of Vernon Place, Barrington, died peacefully on February 15, 2025 at the VA Medical Center, Providence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Louise Cecile (Trudeau) Frederick.

Born in Danville, PA, he was a son of the late Francis and Florence (Seksceinski) Frederick, he lived in Barrington for 51 years.

Mr. Frederick was an engineer for Raytheon for 35 years before retiring in 1994.

John enjoyed gardening, landscaping, playing cards with friends and spending time with his loving family and golfing where he scored a hole in one at Wanumetonomy Golf & Country Club, Middletown. He also enjoyed attending and cheering at his granddaughter’s softball games. He was a devoted sports fan.

Mr. Frederick was a United States Navy Veteran serving on the USS Harding and the USS Thresher as a1st Class Sonarman. He was a member of the US Sub Vets, Groton, CT.

He is survived by two daughters, Marianne Frederick and her husband Stanley Fafara of Warren and Joan Frederick of Barrington; two grandchildren, Sydney Rose Frederick of Barrington and Brett Frederick and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late David F. Frederick and a brother of the late Barbara Egli, Michael and Thomas Frederick.

His Funeral Service will be held on Friday February 21, 2025 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 11 a.m.

Calling Hours are Friday morning 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. A private Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Road, Barrington. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Mr. Frederick’s memory to The Wounded Warrior Project, Donor Care Center, PO BOX 758540, Topeka, Kansas, 66675-8540 would be deeply appreciated.

  2. My heart goes out to you. I hope many fond memories carry you all through and lighten your hearts. My mom, Helen Russell (Fricault) would often tell me about an uncle who was a Submariner, it sounded so exotic to a kid. I too was a Submariner, for 22 years. Fair winds and following seas seas shipmate, you can rest your oars, we have the watch.

  4. I’m sorry for your loss. Joe was a great guy and I loved seeing him at the THRESHER memorials with my Dad. My Dad had tried to reach out before he passed this past September, but was unable to reach him. I am sure that they all are with their shipmates in heaven. Prayers for you all.

    I am so sorry for your loss! Courtney, Rosemary and I speak of Joe often and have really been missing him (and his jokes). Joe was blessed to have his wonderful daughters to care for him. God bless.
