Andreozzi, Joseph D. ‘Little Joe’, 87, of Kirby Street died peacefully on Monday, December 28, 2009 at home. He was the husband of the late Winifred (Turner) Andreozzi. They had been married for 63 years. Born in Bristol, RI he was the eldest son of the late Antonio and Antonetta (Quatruopolo) Andreozzi. He resided in Barrington for 87 years.Mr. Andreozzi was a carpenter and cabinet maker for Andreozzi and Sons owned by his father before retiring. He was also co-owner and operator along with his wife of Joe’s Auto Parts and Kirby Auto Sales always working two jobs to provide for his family. Joe and Winnie provided day care to many children over the years and they knew him as ‘Papa Joe’. Joseph was a communicant of Holy Angels Church, Barrington. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called him ‘Grampa down the street’. He was a member of the Barrington FOPA and the American Legion Post 8. He spent a lot of fun years with his family as a member of the Wild Goose Camping Club. Mr. Andreozzi was a World War II veteran serving in the Pacific Phillipines and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Joe was always proud of his large family and all their accomplishments. He was known for his many charitable contributions always helping those in need. He was a generous and loving man who could never say no to someone less fortunate. In his later years he collected aluminum cans, took the money he earned from recycling them and bought grocery store gift cards to give to people he knew needed ‘a little extra help’. He was loved by all and many people in and out of town own one of his famous hand made bird houses. He also liked to watch the girls on the bike path who always gave him a wave and a smile. His best friends were the ‘girls from Hospice’ who always made him laugh and took such good care of him. He is survived by his beloved daughters; Jo-Ann Carroll and her husband Dave of Englewood, FL; Cheryl Briggs and her husband Dave of Sevierville, TN; Judi Fitcha and her husband Tim of North Branch, MN and a son Joseph Andreozzi Jr. of East Providence, RI. He is also survived by his sister Jenny Costa of East Providence and his brother Louis of Wareham, MA., 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Joseph was also the Godfather of 5 whom he loved very much. He was also the father of the late Joseph D. Andreozzi. He was the brother of the late James, Anthony and Frank Andreozzi. His funeral will be held on Thursday December 31, 2009 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 7:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 9 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Upland Way, Barrington. Calling hours are Wednesday 4-7 p.m.
