Cole, Patrick B., 68, of Broadway, Newport, died peacefully on October 29, 2023 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Charles P. Cole and Florence (Thereault) Cole, he lived in Newport for 40 years, previously residing in Riverside.

A sports enthusiast, he was a Gold Medalist in the Rhode Island Special Olympics.

Mr. Cole worked in the Foodservice Department at the Newport Naval Base for 30 years.

He is survived by his siblings, Charles P. Cole of Riverside, Corinne M. O’Donnell of Riverside, Stephen R. Cole of North Providence, Cherylanne M. Campanini of Johnston, Scott M. Cole of East Providence and Carla A. McBride of Rumford and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Catherine Russell, Paul W. and William J. Cole.

A Private family Committal Service will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, Wampanoag Trail, East Providence. Burial in his family lot will follow.

  3. I used to play softball and softball with him and he always made me laugh. Patrick you go play in heaven whenever you want.

  5. This is so heartbreaking—my deepest condolences to Patrick’s family. I’m lucky and grateful to be among his many friends—my mother introduced us and as a threesome, we had some wonderful outings together. Lunches and dinners here and there, driving around to see Christmas lights, a visit to the Audubon raptor show, and more. Patrick was so kind and always enthusiastic, had charm and a lovely smile. He will be very sorely missed by many, and I will miss him every day. Godspeed, Patrick. You are amazing!

  6. Dearest Patrick and Patrick’s family. I am heartbroken to learn of your passing. You’ve brought such joy and love into my life but in my heartbreak I will remember the wonderful times we had at the PAW SOX on Memorial day weekend and Labor Day weekend when I would take you up there for the game and for the fireworks. RIP Dear Patrick. I will hold you in my heart forever.

  7. Patrick was an amazing man who enjoyed live to the fullest. He loved sports and going out with his staff and friends. He will will be missed dearly and definently not forgotten. My condolences goes to all who knew him and his loving family who he was very close to. RiP Pat. My prayers and condolences to his family.
