Falaguerra, Ralph G., 90, of Sea View Avenue, Riverside Terrace, Riverside, died peacefully at home on August 1, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Rita L. (Fontes) Falaguerra.

A lifelong resident of East Providence, he was a son of the late Raphael and Anna (Decesare) Falaguerra.

Mr. Falaguerra was a member of the East Providence Fire Department for 40 years before retiring as the assistant chief in 1995. He was a United States Navy Veteran.

Ralph was a caregiver to his late wife Rita. He was a teacher to all of his children with his kindness, generosity and sense of humor. He gave his time and spirit to his loving family.

He is survived by three sons, Michael A. Falaguerra of Woodbury, CT, David J. Falaguerra and his wife Kathleen of Warwick and Christopher T. Falaguerra and his husband Steven Deell of Riverside; two daughters, Anna M. Melanson of Cumberland and Andrea L. Falaguerra and her wife Lori Hopkins of Barrington; a brother, Louis Falaguerra of Riverside; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Anthony and Robert Falaguerra.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside on Monday August 7, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be held in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Ralph’s memory to a charity of choice would be deeply appreciated.

  9. Chief Falaguerra was a father figure to me at the beginning of my career in the Department. I cherish the many conversations we had in his office and the firehouse talking about anything and everything. He loved talking about his family. A very good man. He is now reunited with his lovely wife Rita. Rest in peace, Chief.
