Ball, Richard, F., 81, of Frederick Street, Rumford, died unexpectedly on January 28, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Madeline V. (Costa) Ball.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Richard F. and Lucille Ball, he lived in Rumford for 53 years.
Mr. Ball was an office manager for McLean Trucking Co. and an expediter for Startron Corp of Pawtucket and Providence for many years.
Richard was a communicant of St. Margaret Church where he also was a cantor and member of the church choir. He was a member of the Pope John XXIII Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking projects and walking his beloved dog Topsie.
Mr. Ball was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he is survived by a daughter; Mary A. Searle of Barrington, two sons; Richard M. Ball of Pawtucket and Robert E. Ball of Attleboro, MA and three grandchildren; Christopher, William and Michael Ball.
His funeral service will be held on Monday February 3, 2014 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 7 pm. Calling hours are Monday 5-7 pm. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Richard’s memory to Fairhaven Animal Shelter, 200 Bridge Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719 would be deeply appreciated.
