Patton, Robert G., 81, of Greenwich Avenue, East Providence, died peacefully on June 5, 2022 at The Miriam Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose (Canha) Patton.

Born in Acushnet, MA, a son of the late Russell A. and Elinor (Davis) Patton, he was a lifelong resident of East Providence.

Mr. Patton was a maintenance worker for Bay View Academy, Riverside.

Robert was a member of the Freemasons and the Rhode Island Umpires Association. He had his own softball team, Bob’s Independence and was a member of the Rhode Island Senior over 50 Softball League. Bob was a volunteer basketball and Little League baseball coach.

Bob was a devoted Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed going to the Ice Cream Barn in Swansea, MA and spending time with his loving family.

Mr. Patton was a United States Army Veteran.

He is survived by his daughters, Robyn L. Patton and her husband James Cunningham of East Providence and Rachelle L. Abbruzzi and her husband Kevin of Bristol; a brother, Warren Patton of Falmouth, MA and three grandchildren, Claire Cunningham, Margaret and Brian Abbruzzi. He was the brother of the late Russell A. Patton.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday June 13, 2022 in St. Mary’s Academy Bay View Chapel, 3070 Pawtucket Avenue, Riverside at 9 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Mr. Patton’s memory to the Bay View President Need Based Fund, 3070 Pawtucket Avenue, Riverside, RI, 02915 would be deeply appreciated.

    I taught at Bay View for 13 years (1985-1998). What a kind man and a very conscientious worker! He was always willing to respond to a teacher’s request.
    May memories carry you through your grief.

Our holidays will not be the same without him.He was so happy to give all the kids special coins even though it took him a minute or two to remember which pocket of the many pockets in his pants they were in.Rest in peace my dear friend!
