Chappell, Robert W., “Bob,” 69, of Riverside, RI passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 at his home.
Born on September 14, 1952 in Providence, RI to the late Rita Mae and Robert J. Chappell, Bob lived in Riverside for 60 of his 69 years of life.
Bob was a US Navy Veteran, proudly serving his country from 1971-1975 on the USS Saratoga as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate Jet Engine Mechanic Petty Officer Third Class during the Vietnam Era. After his Naval career, Bob became a skilled electrician, mentor, beloved Scout Master of Riverside Troop 4, and amputee support group leader.
Bob is survived by his wife, Paula; two children, Joshua Chappell of Woonsocket and Murphie Chappell of Greensboro, NC; his younger brother, Martin Chappell of Warwick; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Bob Chappell on Saturday December 11, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside, RI. The family will receive friends for half an hour immediately before (12:30 pm) and after (1:30 pm) the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Newman YMCA, who helped Bob learn to run and bike again at YMCA of Greater Providence 21 Peace St., 6th floor Providence, RI 02907 or to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Charitable Trust at http://cst.dav.org.
